The Engineering

The Vanguard Power Air Invikta uses a hybrid face rather than a single material: a carbon fiber layer for stiffness and control, blended with Selkirk's Fiberflex fiberglass for added pop. It's a deliberate middle path between the two paddle-material camps — instead of picking a side in the carbon-vs-fiberglass tradeoff, Selkirk is trying to capture a piece of both.

The paddle's throat uses what Selkirk calls Air Dynamic Throat construction, developed through the brand's internal "Selkirk Labs" testing program. The stated goal is twofold: cut air resistance through the swing path, and add a bit more flex through the throat for a faster effective swing. We haven't measured this ourselves, but it's a consistent claim across Selkirk's own materials and independent paddle reviews we cross-referenced.

At 13mm, the core sits on the thinner end for a Selkirk paddle, which generally trends toward a livelier, more responsive feel than a thicker 16mm core — more pop off the face, at some cost to the extended dwell time thicker cores are known for. Paired with the elongated shape, which adds reach at the cost of a smaller sweet spot, this reads as a paddle built for players who already have consistent contact and want to extend their reach without giving up too much control.
